A light in the dark for abused children

There is undoubtedly something very special in the air during the festive season: millions of lights are lit and just as many wishes are awakened all over the world. Every wish has its own story – most of them are beautiful and courageously carried out into the world. But some desires arise from a sad fate and can never be expressed aloud.

1 in 5 children in the UK have suffered abuse. This Christmas thousands of children will suffer abuse, left in the dark and with no one to turn to. Those affected are not lucky enough to fall asleep peacefully in the arms of their loved ones every night and listen to bedtime stories. That’s why we’ve decided to support the NSPCC because they want every child to know how to speak out about abuse and know they have someone they can turn to who will listen.

‘Abuse changes childhood, but so can we. Child abuse is preventable – not inevitable. And it’s up to each of us to do everything possible to keep childhood safe from abuse, so children can grow up healthy and thrive. That’s why we’re here and drives what we do. So as long as there’s abuse – we will fight for every childhood.’ – NSPCC.

In order to draw attention to the problem, we have designed our millionth Hooray Heroes book: its handmade wooden box serves as a night light, a symbolic light in the dark for all victims of abuse.

We are donating the millionth book to the NSPCC, so that attention is drawn to those children who are suffering from abuse and who urgently need our help.

Do you want to help too? Donate to organizations such as the NSPCC which raise awareness among the population and help affected children in need.
